Great post, I wish people could read this post before going out and buying real estate. In real restate business you need to do your homework, you need to research the market. Or else you will get lost, and people will make alot of profit off you.

I of course and biased . But I think one of the most important things for a buyer to do is find the best, most knowledgeable real estate broker that you can and do trust. Look at their track record even talk to their previous clients. I always work on my clients behalf not on my own. I think that my clients gain me as a valuable resource. I know my markets and I follow them and have followed them for years.

This article is very similar to a political statement. It tell you that we have a problem but the solution is omitted frequently and on purpose because the answer is not good for the image.

this is very good advice to do much homework and research and never trust an agent 100%.
yes a good agent will guide you thorugh the process, but things maybe hidden from you as they are on commission and need to make a living by selling houses. they won't make money from turning you away will they?

One of the most important things that many overlook is the knowledge that the Realtor they hire to help find and represent them in their purchase. I have seen many people who made the mistake of hiring someone based on friendship or relationship when the Realtor they hired was basically uninformed about the market and because of this the buyers made big mistakes which cost them big.

Mike, you make a good point. Most people don't realize that we actually earn our commission.

Quite honestly any real estate agent will be happy to share this information with you. We don't keep it a secret. You also don't really need to learn all that much when you buy a home, we do most of it for you.

When you go to a Lawyer do you study everything he knows or do you trust him to represent you?

When a auto technician works on your car do you read all the manuals to make sure he followed them step by step?

As real Estate professionals most REALTORS are happy to guide you through the home buying process without making it overly complicated.
