I saw one estate agent website which had a ‘online valuation tool’ – it asked for a whole range of details around location, size and condition of property and then churned out an approximate valuation. Very clever!!

One other very important thing to consider when choosing an agent is their experience in helping their clients save money and shop wisely. Is the agent with fancy website just there to “show” homes or actually advise her/his clients?

Very Good Article – and I must say so very accurate. If more agents would spend the time and money to create useful and informative websites, with a good blog for their area there would be less room for these national lead generating companies to get a foothold in your area. They do not in my opinion offer the best source for consumers. They sell leads to agents that are generally the least experienced or they wouldn’t have to buy leads to begin with. That is not exactly in the consumers best interest. Consumers should shop around, trying to avoid those lead generating companies and choose an agent or broker website that you feel comfortable with.

I think it is indeed necessary for real estate agents to have good blog and a website that has enough details. In order to keep you updated with real estate could be seen through your website and blogs.I think one of the necessary things should an agent need to have is a good website and blogs.

An agent who has a good website is an agent who is putting something into building a business, not just throwing up a site for $500 and forgetting about it. If the website is full of consumer information about buying a house, selecting a real estate agent, insider tips, home buyer mistakes, etc., that means that the agent is consumer driven. An agent who truly wants to help people will try to make information available to online searchers. Good blogs and websites also show that the agent is cutting edge. Those who blog read blogs, so agents who keep blogs are usually more up to date on the market than those who do not blog or add consumer content to their sites.

I agree….the basic 5-page websites are a thing of the past…these days, I only call agents that have a nice website and I prefer the ones that take the time to write a blog…

Yes, you are right on the money. getting people to your site is of great improtance. it does not matter what you have on your real estate website if people are not finding it.
